Storylines

Looking at the storylines of most zombie film, the aim is survival and people congregate as a group and do the best they possible can to survive and live in this world. They often go through troubles and problems along the way and the weaker members usually die off but this is not always the case there is at least one death in the first 30 minutes in order to keep the audience engaged and exited. Usually the point is that the characters are traveling to a place important to them or a sanctuary but either way they have a goal, a place to be and a mission. The plot is about the character or group completing that mission by any means necessary and the typical storyline is about the problems they have and how they complete that mission often loosing people along the way.

An Example of a zombie film storyline is in zombieland Wichita’s mission is to get to Pacific Playland with Little Rock (her sister) and they meet up with Tallahassee and Columbus and along the way have their problems, they fall out and sometimes differ from opinion but in the end they all get back together and carry on their journey as a team. However the problem with analysing the storyline of this film is that is a comedy zombie film where as ours is a zombie horror.

But the basic skeleton storyline to every zombie film is the fact that they have a mission to complete and the film is about them completing this mission or getting to a certain place and their survival along the way. They encounter problems that make or break their group.

For our film I will take certain aspects of these storylines and piece them together so the story makes sense however we have to take into account that our film is only the start and therefore is only 2 minutes long and most films don’t usually take off in the first two minutes meaning that our storyline is going to have to be good and draw people in. I think the best way to do this is to start off with something big and exiting yet still keeping the general storyline of most zombie films and tell the audience how important survival is for them.
