Zombie Horror Film Research

Zombie Horror Film Research

The genre of horror is a very broad term used to describe many different types of films. Horror films typically contain some type of creature e.g. vampires, zombies, werewolves, frankenstein, mummies etc. This gives the audience something real to be afraid of whilst they are watching the film. Horror films are created to inject terror into the viewer.

Zombie apocalypse is a fictional sub-genre to horror using the thought of the dead coming back to life to kill you as the main incentive. This is one of the most popular types of horror films and there have been many films and TV shows made regarding this theme. These include 'The Waling Dead' TV series and the 'Resident Evil' collection. Some of the most successful TV shows and movies ever.

There are many things that you will pick up on whilst watching a horror film that tell you it is a horror film. For example, slow suspense building scenes are used for often to create tension and to unnerve the audience.

Another thing that you will see that will let you know that it is a zombie film is when the main character wakes up alone in a building. This character usually doesn't know where they are or what they are doing there. They are confused and start to look around the building. An example of this is the opening scene of '28 days later.'

Finally, huge attacks from zombies on the public in the middle of the streets are used in almost every movie. These types of scenes show to the audience the amount of panic that the outbreak is causing and to show the terror sweeping over people. An example of this is the scene from 'World War Z' when the first infected attacks a member of the public.
