Evaluation Pt. 6

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
In the media product that we was creating, we had to incorporate a lot of technologies to make it how the group envisioned it to be. We had to do many things like ask for equipment that was above our budget, and that we had to use technologies such as Final Cut. Final Cut is a macintosh application which isn’t very familiar as the group seemed to grow up working in different environments such as Windows. Windows had a less premium video editor that was Windows Movie Maker. This application wasn’t beneficial enough for what we wanted to do so we had to get a premium editor, and Final Cut was our choice. I did a lot of the editing and Callum did too. We are the most tech savvy of the group, however Tom and Ellis gave good feedback on things that we did during the editing of our product. We created effects inside this application such as iris blurs and motion tracking. This was very helpful because it added effect to the product, making character portrayals and conventions efficient to understand by the audience that may be watching the short film that we created.
We used Blogspot because we are then able to track our progress and talk about each other’s group post so that then we are able to establish firm grounds on what we‘re trying to create. We tracked our progress through this by writing information and research that we found and this was the perfect way to keep a record and to be able to go back to the archive.
We used Social Networking because then we got the people to fill in our questionnaire and give the opinions of the film that we created.

We used Final Cut Express because this allowed us to create complex edits through changing colour on screen and creating high key lighting to show the derelict yet clear area, with jump cuts to show the intensity of a certain moment.
