Props and costumes (Photos, planning and research)

Left to right: News Reporter, David Potter, Sarah, Steve.
News Anchorman

For this character, we want to pick up the common conventions and aesthetics of your average news anchorman. It's common knowledge to everyone that these people are smartly dressed and present themselves in a very formal manner. Therefore a shirt and tie would be appropriate clothing.

This characters costume is easy to access as one of us owns a shirt and tie and therefore we don't need to make any extra effort for preparation of this character.

David Potter

For David, considering his circumstances of awakening from a coma in a hospital, we believe the best way to represent this would be to place his character in bandages and hospital attire. We will purchase the robe from Amazon and buy bandages from a local shop. We are also planning on having a transition in which David puts on some regular clothes, we will keep these clothes basic and it will be used to represent a passage of time within the film.

Sarah

For Sarah, we have decided that she will be wearing all black. This is because it adds to the dark and mysterious atmosphere of the film. If she was wearing bright, colourful clothing then it would change the whole feel of the film and partly remove the element of danger. As this is a horror film we cannot afford to let this happen. So therefore she will be wearing an all dark outfit to add to the horror. This will also be helpful financially for the group as we will be able to bring our own clothes from home.

Steve

For Steve, we have had similar ideas to the ones we had with Sarah. We don't want to any element of danger to be lost by using lighter clothes. We want to use dark clothing as darkness brings out the fear of the unknown and is more mysterious. This would be perfect for our horror genre. However, he will be wearing shirt and smart trousers and shoes to portray the idea that he was a classy and possibly quite formal man before the epidemic occurred. Again, this will be good money wise as we will not be required to purchase and additional items of clothing.

Props and Makeup

Baseball Bat- One of the props which we will be using is a baseball bat. We have chosen this as the weapon that Sarah will use to hit David with because it is light and easy to use. There is also less danger using a baseball bat than if we were to use a knife instead. This is also a realistic weapon that someone in a zombie apocalypse would have as most people own a baseball bat.

Bandages- We will also use bandages to show the damage that the apocalypse had caused upon the people involved. David will have a bandage across his head showing that he has been hit at some point in the near past. The bandages will show that the characters have been injured and convey the danger of the world they are now living in.

Zombies- The Zombies will all be wearing makeup to make them look like they have been dead for a long time. This will make them more realistic. There faces will be made white and we will use fake blood to add cuts and scars to the faces and bodies of the zombies. This is going to make them look like they have been in this condition for a while and were killed a long time ago. Will will have to purchase the makeup for this.
